The UEFA Champions League is finally back and the first knockout round is already coming to a close. If you missed any of the action, here is a brief recap of who will be advancing to the quarterfinals and who will be heading home. Real Madrid comfortably defeated Napoli 3-1 in both legs (6-2 aggregate). Bayern Munich demolished Arsenal, 5-1 in the first and second leg for an outrageous aggregate of 10-2. Barcelona made a miraculous comeback from 4-0 down in the first leg to beat PSG 6-5 on aggregate in the second. Dortmund came back from a 1-0 loss in the first leg to dispatch of Benfica, 4-1 on aggregate. Leicester, despite losing the first leg, edged Sevilla 3-2 on aggregate. Juventus sent Porto packing, keeping a clean sheet in both legs with an aggregate of 3-0. Bayer Leverkusen fell to Atletico, 4-2 on aggregate. AS Monaco were 3-1 victors over Manchester City in the second leg, tying 6-6 on aggregate. The “Red and Whites” of France (Monaco) advanced on away goals. Well, that concludes the 2016-17 UCL round of 16. See you in the quarter-finals.
P.S. I apologize for cramming both legs into one post. With my soccer season up and running again I have increasingly less time to blog, but hopefully I’ll be able to do two parts for the quarter-finals.
