English Premier League, Match Day 37

Now that the title has been decided our attention has turned to (1) the bottom half of the table where Sunderland, Newcastle, and Norwich our fighting to avoid relegation and (2) the third and fourth Champions League spots which Manchester United, West Ham, Arsenal, and Manchester City are contending for. If you missed any of the action, here is a brief recap. Manchester United dimmed Norwich’s hope of survival, defeating them, 1-0. Matt Ritchie late equalizer salvaged a point for Bournemouth against West Brom; the final score was 1-1. Newcastle were unable to at least temporarily pull themselves out of the relegation zone, tying Aston Villa who are already preparing for life in the Championship, 0-0. Dwight Gayle’s brace helped Crystal Palace come back from 1-0 down to beat Stoke, 2-1. Sunderland upset Chelsea, 3-2, taking them one point clear of the drop zone (relegation zone). Swansea crushed West Ham, 4-1. Leicester cruised to a 3-1 victory over Everton. Tottenham fell 2-1 to Southampton. Liverpool overcame Watford, 2-0. Manchester City and Arsenal drew, 2-2. Well, that’s all for match day 37’s EPL action.
