UEFA Champions League, Round of 16, Second Legs

Here is a brief recap of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second legs. André Schürrle’s solo goal in the 74th minute sealed Wolfsburg’s spot in the Quarterfinals with a 1-0 win over Gent (4-2 aggregate). Real Madrid showed their quality, defeating Roma 2-0 (4-0 aggregate). Benfica came back from 1-0 down to beat Zenit 2-1, scoring in the 85th and 90th minutes (3-1 aggregate). Chelsea fell 2-1 (4-2 aggregate) to Ligue 1 champions, PSG. Manchester City drew 0-0 with Dynamo Kiev, advancing 3-1 on aggregate. Atletico Madrid just edged PSV 8-7 on penalties after neither team was able to score in regular time. Barcelona cruised to an easy 3-1 victory (5-1 aggregate) against Arsenal. Bayern Munich were able to come back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Juventus 4-2 in extra time (6-4 aggregate). Well, that’s all for the second legs of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. English Premier League, Match Day 30

Here is a brief recap of the English Premier League matches that took place on match day 30. Although they dominated Norwich, Manchester City were unable to find the back of the net; the final score was 0-0. Bournemouth defeated Swansea, 3-2. Graziano Pellé’s brace helped Stoke to a 2-1 victory over Southampton. Tottenham beat Aston Villa thanks to Harry Kane’s double; the final score was 2-0. Here is a brief recap of the EPL matches that took place on match day 29. Tottenham and 10-men Arsenal (Francis Coquelin was sent off in the 55th minute) battled to a 2-2 draw in the North London Derby, what could turn out to be a crucial match in the title race. Mame Diouf’s 85th minute goal salvaged a point for Stoke against Chelsea; the final score was 1-1. West Ham came back from 2-0 down in the 77th minute, to beat Everton, 3-2. Sergio Agüero’s brace helped Manchester City to a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa. Newcastle were defeated by Bournemouth, 3-1. Southampton and Sunderland tied 1-1, with both of their goals coming late on. Swansea beat Norwich, 1-0. Leicester just barely edged Watford, 1-0, widening the gap between them and 2nd place Tottenham to five points. Manchester United fell 1-0 to West Brom. Swansea came back from 1-0 down to beat Arsenal 2-1. Xherdan Shaqiri netted the only goal in Stoke’s 1-0 win versus Newcastle. West Ham beat Tottenham, 1-0. Here is a brief recap of the matches that took place on match day 27. Michail Antonio’s solo goal gave West Ham all three points against Sunderland. Leicester defeated Norwich thanks to Leonardo Ulloa’s 89th minute winner; the final score was 1-0. Chelsea came back from 1-0 down to beat Southampton, 2-1. Marko Arnautovic’s brace helped Stoke to a 2-1 victory versus Aston Villa. Watford and Bournemouth drew, 0-0. After going 3-0 down to West Brom in only the 31st minute, Crystal Palace narrowed the margin to one goal in the last ten minutes. Luckily for West Brom, they were unable to score again; the final score was 3-2. 18 year old, Marcus Rashford, etched his name into the history books, scoring twice in Manchester United’s 3-2 victory over Arsenal.
