UEFA Champions League, Round of 16, First Leg

The UEFA Champions League has finally returned after it’s long break. If you missed the action, here is a brief recap. PSG and Chelsea tied, 1-1. Although Bayern Munich dominated possession, they were’nt able to score and drew Shakhtar Donetsk, 0-0. Danilo converted a penalty for FC Porto in the 79th minute to salvage a 1-1 tie against FC Basel. Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo both netted as Real Madrid were 2-0 victors over Schalke 04. Juventus defeated Borussia Dortmund, 2-1, at home. Luis Suarez scored a brace to help Barcelona to their 2-1 away victory over Manchester City. Messi did miss a penalty in the 90th minute (it was actually saved, but then he missed the rebound) though, which may come back to haunt Barca. Arsenal played horrible against Monaco and lost 3-1. Hakan Calhanoglu scored the lone goal to help Bayer Leverkusen to a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid. That’s all for the first legs of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
