Here is a brief recap of New Year’s Day’s Premier League action. Stoke City drew 1-1 with Manchester United, but should have won, being the far better team and having a clear penalty not called. Aston Villa dominated against Crystal Palace, but were unable to score and tied, 0-0. Everton lost 2-0 to Hull City to continue their losing streak. Liverpool were winning 2-0, due to two converted penalties by Steven Gerrard, until the 58th minute when Leicester made it 2-1. Two minutes later they scored again to salvage a point. Manchester City dominated against Sunderland and won, 3-2. Newcastle United drew with Burnley, 3-3. Wilfried Bony scored in stoppage time to save Swansea City a point. Surprisingly, Southampton beat Arsenal easily, 2-0. Over at Boleyn Ground, West Ham tied 1-1 with West Brom. Tottenham, who have been on a good run of form, shocked league leaders Chelsea, beating them, 5-3. 🙂 That’s all for match day 20 and New Year’s Day!
