UEFA Champions League, Week 2, Part 1

Here is a brief recap of Tuesday’s Champions League games. Although Bayern Munich’s 77 percent possession they were only able to score once and that was off a penalty! Apoel tied Ajax, 1-1, and their only goal was also a penalty. BATE Borisov beat Athletic Bilbao, 2-1, to get their first win in this years Champions League. Manchester City scored a penalty (what is that like the third penalty in four matches) in the 4th minute of their match against Roma, but Francesco Totti pulled it back in the 23rd minute to salvage a point for The Wolves (Roma). PSG shocked Barcelona, beating them 3-2! NK Maribor netted first against Schalke 04 in the 37th minute. Twenty-four minutes later Klaas Jan Huntelaar equalised for Schalke and the game ended, 1-1. Shakhtar thought they had the win when they went 2-0 up on FC Porto in the 85th minute, but Porto surprisingly scored twice to tie the game. Chelsea won against Sporting Lisbon, 1-0, with their only goal coming from Nemanja Matic who used to play for Benfica, Sporting’s arch-rival. That was all for Tuesday’s matches, but there will be some more tomorrow that will hopefully have a few less penalties (seriously, somebody needs to have a talk with the defenders because there have been way too many bad tackles in the box).

In the picture above this is probably what the player is saying, “Penalty! Penalty! That was NOT a penalty! Do you need glasses or something!” Although I have to agree with the ref that it was a penalty.
