UEFA Champions League Group-stage, Week 1, Part 1

The UEFA Champions League has finally begun and so far it’s been pretty exciting. If you missed it here’s a recap on the games. The Italian giants, Juventus dominated Malmo FF and won 2-0 with Carlos Tevez scoring both goals. AS Monaco and Bayern Leverkusen were pretty evenly matched teams and the score line showed just that with only one goal separating them. The goal came in the 61st minute when Joao Moutinho netted to give Monaco the win. Zenit beat Benfica 2-0, both of their goals came in the first thirty minutes. Arsenal disappointingly lost to Borussia Dortmund 2-0, giving up a goal right before and right after halftime. Galatasaray barely salvaged a point agains Anderlecht scoring in extra time to tie the game at one! Liverpool surprisingly had a tough time against Ludogorets Razgard. Mario Balotelli scored in the 82nd minute, but then Dani Abalo tied the game for Ludogorets. Luckily, Liverpool was awarded a penalty seconds later, which, the veteran, Steven Gerrard easily converted to win the game for Liverpool. I was shocked when I discovered that Olympiakos beat the reigning La Liga champions, Atletico Madrid, 3-2. Real Madrid definitely didn’t have a problem beating Basel, they crushed them 5-1 (Ronaldo scored to put him as the second all time champions league goal scorer)! We’re off to a great start to the Champions League and who knows what’ll happen next!
