English Premier League, Match Day 33

Just a brief recap of today’s Premier League action. Chelsea who are title contenders played Stoke City who had beat the blues in their first meeting. That wasn’t the case this time though. Jose Mourinho’s men crushed Stoke 3-0 with their newest signing, Mohamed Salah, scoring his second goal for Chelsea putting them in first place, but Liverpool has a game in hand. Over in Manchester, eight place Southampton played third place Manchester City. Yaya Toure opened the scoring in the third minute because of a penalty. Then Ricky Lambert tied it up with his own penalty in the 37th minute. The level panting didn’t last for long though because Edin Dzeko and Samir Nasri both netted in second half stoppage time. Juan Mata scored a brace and Januzaj netted his fourth of the season. The game finished 4-0 putting Man U in sixth place. With the fight for survival still going on West Brom seriously needed a win against Norwhich. Morgan Amalfitano scored the only goal of the game in the 16th minute and earned his side a vital three points. Hull City who had just recently beat Swansea in the FA Cup beat them again in the English Premier League 1-0 with George Boyd scoring in the 39th minute. Relegation threatened Cardiff needed to win against Tony Pulis’ Crystal Palace side, but no such luck. Crystal Palace won 3-0 putting Cardiff six points away from clearing the relegation zone. Fulham who are also threatened by relegation pulled out a win against Aston Villa, but just narrowly. They scored their second goal in the 86th minute to make it 2-1 which was the final score. So today’s Premier League action finished, but who knows what will happen in tomorrows games.
