You may wonder why Messi plays for Barcelona and Argentina. Well that’s because there are two types of teams’, club and International. The difference between a club and international team is that a club team is like a NHL team. The club teams buy and sell players and almost every city has one. An international team is kind of like the U.S. Hockey Olympic team or the U.S. Basketball team. When Kobe Bryant (a basketball player) plays for the U.S. he still plays for the Lakers too. It’s the same in soccer. It is considered an honor to be wanted on your country’s team. You can’t play for any national team though. You have to be a citizen of that country, be born there, or your parents have to be from there. Club teams can have however many different nationality players they want. Although, some leagues require each team to have a certain number of native players). Now you can watch the World Cup without being confused.
